The first part: The process of making the trolley case-how is the ingenuity made?
A qualified trolley case usually goes through four core stages: material selection, molding, assembly and testing.
Material selection: the soul of the box
The material of the box determines the “anti-beating” ability of the box. At present, the mainstream materials are divided into two types:
PC (Polycarbonate): Extremely tough, lightweight and impact resistant. Although it will be deformed under heavy pressure, it can rebound and recover, which is the first choice for high-end boxes.
ABS: High hardness, but relatively brittle and low cost. Many “ABS + PC” composite materials on the market are balanced between the two.
Aluminum-magnesium alloy: metal texture, strong and durable, high appearance, but heavy weight and difficult to repair once deformed.
Molding: from raw material to shell
Blister process (vacuum forming): PC or ABS sheet is heated and softened, and then formed on the mold by vacuum adsorption. The boxes produced by this process have clear lines and good toughness.
Injection molding process: Molten plastic is injected into a metal mold for cooling and molding. The box made in this way has clear edges and corners and high structural strength, but the process is complex and the cost is high.
Assembly: Details determine success or failure
Pull rod: This is the “heart” of the trolley case. High-quality pull rods are usually made of thickened aluminum alloy, which has been tested for many times to ensure smoothness without stuttering, and the degree of shaking is controlled within a very small range.
Wheels: Wheels determine the experience of walking. High-end boxes mostly use double-row universal wheels made of TPE/PU rubber. This kind of wheel is silent, wear-resistant, and has the function of shock absorption, which is qualified only after several kilometers of weight-bearing walking test in the laboratory.
Zipper and frame: To prevent explosion, many boxes use double-layer explosion-proof zippers. The aluminum frame box relies on the occlusion structure of the aluminum alloy middle frame to provide stronger anti-theft and compression resistance.
Strict testing
Before leaving the factory, the trolley case needs to undergo a series of “devil tests”:
Load drop test: simulate the impact of a bag being dropped off the conveyor belt.
Walking test: full of heavy objects, walk continuously on the track for tens of kilometers to test the wear of the wheels.
Pull rod fatigue test: repeatedly pull the pull rod for thousands of times to test the durability.
Temperature test: test whether the material is deformed or embrittled in extreme high or low temperature environment.
